11th October
Usually at this time of year, strong winds would mean a silt tint in the water as the surface current eroded exposed banks and margins but with the water level being as high as it is, water clarity is good and the only real impediment to fishing is the persistent weed, particularly with the fish feeding in shallow margins.

Insect activity always declines as the daylight hours shrink and the fish do have a tendency to burst feed as they move into warming marginal water in search of hoglice, corixa and fry. So if you do encounter fish, make the most of it and be prepared to vary the time that you get onto your pitch to make the most of any warmer days or spells.
The coming week looks as if it could be unsettled at the start, with winds of up to 25MPH and heavy rain around Tuesday/ Wednesday but this should calm down towards the end of the week. Winds will be mainly Westerly or Northwesterly and daytime temperatures should peak at around 15C.
