In
this section I've included some tackle retailers which, along
with the Bristol Water tackle shops at Woodford Lodge at Chew
and the lodge at Blagdon, are all outlets which I use myself.
Veals is a local shop in Bristol which is good
for odd items of tackle and up-to-date knowledge of all the Bristol
waters and how they're fishing.
Veals also do a good range of their own-build rods
which are extremely good value for money.
I use Sportfish for "stock" items (hooks, tying
materials etc.) and so far they haven't failed to deliver inside
two days after the order's been placed. At the time of writing
(24th March) I haven't tried ordering on their web site.
Cabelas
are based in Sidney, Nebraska USA and I use them for large items
of tackle (boat seats, motors and the like). So far they've been
extremely impressive on price and delivery but this has depended
on how much HM Customs have decided to add in taxes once the kit
comes into the country. Check the pound-dollar exchange rate and
call Customs to see how much they'll add before you buy...
Fishtec is a retail arm of Airflo, and provides
good value on Airflo kit and items like fluorocarbon. I've also
used Carrilon for Lureflash tying bits (something Sportfish seem
to have missed out on) and their "GamePoint" hooks.
