Home Bay
Around
the corner from Polish Water and starting at the landing stage is
Home Bay.

This bay naturally divides into two distinct parts,
the first of which can be imagined by drawing a line from the landing
stage to the tip of Home Bay point with the fishing area being the
part of the bay closest to Blagdon village. This area is quite shallow
(up to 8 feet) and is bisected by the channel caused by the inlet
stream which enters the bay in the corner by the pine trees.
Early in the season, fish tend to hold in the shallow
areas at the top of the bay where access from the bank is difficult
although fish can be taken from the landing stage and the area of
bank just up the point from the inlet. As the water drops, the point
becomes fishable although fish numbers decline as the level drops.
Home Bay is not noted as a late-season bank area.
The second area of the Bay is less well defined but
can be thought of as being bounded by the shelf off Polish Water
and a line drawn straight out from the tip of Home Bay point.
This area is almost exclusively the preserve of boat
fishing and reaches depths of 20 or more feet.
Drifts
can be made across the bay to Green Lawn and preferred anchoring
positions are all around the numerous shelves which come off Polish
Water, the tip of the Point and the middle of the bay between the
landing stage and point.
In early summer fish are frequently taken in the deep
water in a position almost level with the main bank of Green Lawn.
Overall, for boat fishing, Home Bay offers sport throughout the
year.
