Wood's Bay

Lake mapRainbow PointBell's BushWoods Bay is a poorly defined area that covers the lake from Rainbow Point to Bell's Bush - nearly a quarter-mile stretch of water. The parts of Woods which are of most interest are as follows:

The centre of the bay contains the remains of an old land drain that provides good boat fishing throughout the season. The line of the drain is best determined from its origin on the bank where a couple of willow trees meet the water line at top water level.

The point of Woods by the road barrier is a shallow spit which runs directly towards the opposite bank. Heavy willow growth at the east side of the spit provides good boat fishing in the early season while the western side of the spit provide access for disabled bank anglers and good bank fishing throughout the season. Bank fishing can be hampered by heavy weed growth during the summer but in late evenings fish tend to come inshore of the weed beds and provide some excellent sport on dries.

The numerous willow "hedges" between Woods and Bell's Bush provide boat drifts at high water levels but Woods only seems to provide good anchor fishing in the deeper water - typically in the eight to twelve foot depth range.
