How to

How do I learn to fish?

The Bristol Water fisheries team run a number of beginner's days (second Saturday in the month). You can give them a shout on 01275 332339 & they'll sort you out with respect to permits, tuition & everything else.

In May and June 2008 the Salmon and Trout Association have organised tuition especially for youngsters at Chew Valley.

How do I get to Blagdon without a car?

The bus route 672/4 (formerly the Chew Valley Explorer) from Bristol stops at Blagdon. It will drop you in the village and you'd have to make your own way down to the lake and around to where you wish to fish.

Another way is to get to Bristol Airport using the flyer and hire a taxi which could drop you where you wanted.

Some fisherman to cycle if they are bank fishing, but they tend to live locally.

Really you need to be dropped off and picked up or have your own form of transport.

How do I book a boat?

If you want to book a boat, give the fisheries guys at Woodford Lodge a call on 01275 332339.

There are the remains of a Roman villa and a couple of farmhouses underneath Chew
